A tourism attraction in Fiordland is out of action.
The Milford Discovery Centre and Milford Deep Underwater Observatory are out of action until further notice.
A severe storm last Friday night battered the landing pontoon for the centre and observatory causing significant damage and rendering it unsafe to berth vessels.
Southern Discoveries general manager John Robson says as a result, the centre and the observatory will be out of action for about the next six weeks.
Mr Robson says they have carried out initial assessment of the damage and would be working with engineers and insurance assessors to fix the landing pontoon as soon as possible
He says road access to Milford Sound is closed and has been since last Thursday.
Phone lines into Milford are also down.
Passengers already booked to visit the Discovery Centre will get refunds.
