State Highway 94, the Milford Road, will reopen today after being closed for three days because of the risk of rock falls in an area high above the western entrance to the Homer Tunnel.
Full traffic control would be in place between Avalanche Creek to the Chapel, the New Zealand Transport Agency announced last night.
Road users were asked to follow the directions of agency contractors and stick to the no-stopping requirement at the western side of the tunnel.
In addition, for the next few weeks the road between Hollyford turnoff and Milford will be closed every night from 6pm-7am for safety reasons.
