Two stalwarts of outdoor bowling in the Wairarapa, Les O'Donovan and Avis Cooper, achieved notable milestones in the 2005-06 season.
In winning the champion of champion pairs in partnership with his Featherston club-mate Ian Simons, O'Donovan picked up his 15th centre title as did Cooper of Eketahuna when she also won the champion of champion pairs, her partner being Wendy Mitchell.
O'Donovan is close to bringing up his "ton" for the number of representative fixtures played, having repped for Wairarapa on a staggering 94 occasions.
John Polson of Eketahuna won his 10th centre title when he skipped a composite team to victory in the open triples while four players earned their gold star for five centre titles., Robyn Schischka of Carterton, Sheryl Ackroyd of Martinborough and Masterton duo, Brian Johnson and Warren Fisher.

The open mixed-2-4-2 tourney was won by J.Scott and W.Mitchell of Eketahuna.
Bowls Wairarapa selectors for next season are Dennis Richards (all men's teams), Jim Eagle (senior and development squad women) and Pam Eagle (under-5yrs experience and Masters women). Director of coaching is John Polson.
Meanwhile, a special general meeting of Bowls Wairarapa is being held on May 25 at which a number of proposed amendments to the centre constiution will be voted on.
These include changing the composition of the Bowls Wairarapa board.
Currently it contains 19 members, but this number would be cut to 11 under an amendment which calls for it to be made up of the president, vice president, regional advisory committee representative and eight members.
It also asks for five of the board members to be male and five female.
