Violence and tension in the Middle East, coupled with the low value of the Kiwi dollar, have again pushed up fuel prices for New Zealand motorists.
BP - after twice dropping its prices in the past few weeks - is raising the price of petrol at its main city pumps by 4c a litre and diesel by 7c.
It now charges 118.9c for a litre of unleaded 91, 123.9c for premium.
Diesel costs 92.9c a litre.
Other major oil companies said they had noted the BP price rise and were working out what they would do.
A Shell spokeswoman said the company was "under immense pressure."
Caltex executives are expected to make an announcement on its fuel prices today.
