KEY POINTS:
LONDON - Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton is considering a move to New York while he trains to become a rescue helicopter pilot.
Middleton has reportedly held talks with US Vogue editor Anna Wintour and American designer Tom Ford about working in a New York fashion house while William trains with the Royal Air Force.
The 27-year-old has previously worked for fashion chain Jigsaw but has switched to her parent's Party Pieces company, helping develop its website and taking photographs for catalogues.
She is believed to feel her career options are limited in Britain because of fears that many potential employers could try to take advantage of her royal connections.
"Until recently Kate would not have had any great desire to work in the US but things have changed," a friend of Middleton's told the Sunday Express.
"With William doing his own thing, she too wants to expand her horizons and this is the time to do it, when she has few other responsibilities."
Middleton has been dubbed "Waity Katey" by some British newspapers, who believe she is biding her time until William proposes.
William began dating Middleton six years ago when the pair were at university.
