MidCentral Health nursing director Sue Wood, who has gone to Britain seeking to hire 20 nurses, says there will be no special incentives.
She has accepted an offer from Geneva Recruiting to travel to London and Manchester to look for nurses who want to come to NZ to live.
"We are not offering extras - we are looking for people interested in our lifestyle," she said.
"We would love to be able to offer bribes, but we are very conscious of our own workforce, and it wouldn't be appropriate."
Ms Wood said the recruitment drive for experienced nurses to help relieve the workload in the wards would supplement plans to recruit as many new graduates as possible at the end of this academic year.
