A Wellington man goes on trial today for the murder of his estranged wife Mei Fan.
Michael Preston's jury trial will get underway in the High Court at Wellington today before Justice Joseph Williams.
Ms Fan died in November 2013. She was found by concerned friends stabbed to death in her Miramar home two days after she died.
Ms Fan and Preston had two young children together.
Preston is also charged with breaching a protection order. He was arrested in April last year.
