New Zealand will today bask in a splendid, sunny autumn day.
A chilly, frosty start for some will be replaced by a clear skies across much of the country with temperatures rising to around a balmy 20C in many of the country's main centres.
"It's going to be sunny and clear for the whole of the island and, apart from a few morning showers in Gisborne and Northland, it's looking fine," said a MetService forecaster.
Auckland could expect blue skies and 20C, Hamilton 21C and Wellington 18C.
It was a similar outlook for much of the South Island with temperatures expected to reach a high of 20C in Christchurch and 21C in Dunedin.
