A Vietnamese man has been jailed for 10 years after smuggling millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine into the country from Canada.
Than Qui Phan, 23, pleaded guilty to smuggling multiple packages of methamphetamine and to possession for supply of a class A drug.
During his sentencing at the Auckland District Court, Phan was given a minimum non-parole period of four years.
Charges were laid after a Customs investigation last year. Between January and March 2017, Customs officers found methamphetamine inside a home drinking water system and in the packaging of two consignments of alloy wheel trims.
In total, the packages concealed 11.6kg of meth, with a potential street value of up to $11.6 million.
