Mercury scare

A 100-year-old barometer triggered a chemical hazard alert when it toppled from the wall of a Dairy New Zealand office near Hamilton on Friday.

About two teaspoonfuls of mercury spilled. One worker put on protective gear.

Three people were given decontamination showers and one worker was checked by St John staff.
