Mercedes C-Class goes from strength to strength

The new C-Class model is due to go on sale in New Zealand in late August.

It's due to be replaced next month but the seven-year-old C-Class sedan is still proving a success for Mercedes-Benz New Zealand.

The company's top-selling model last month was the run out model C-Class, with 44 units registered.

"In the last year of C-Class sales, we are still growing ... C-Class sales are up after seven years," said Mercedes-Benz NZ general manager Ben Giffin.

"It's been our most successful car in our line-up to date."

The new C-Class, which Driven tested at the international launch in France in March, is due to go on sale in New Zealand in late August and there is already plenty of interest from Kiwis for the mid-size premium sedan.

The new range includes C200 and C250 petrol and diesel models plus the C300 diesel hybrid.

Prices start from $71,900 for the C200 petrol with the estate versions due in November.

"The information we've fed out to our Facebook followers, social media and avid fans and existing C-Class owners has been great," said Giffin. "In fact, from our feedback from existing customers, we have more inquiries in New Zealand than Australia.

"New Zealand consumers tend to interact better online and I think due to that interaction they come across the information earlier and they're happy to send us inquiries."

Kiwis are happy to put their name down too, with the company already holding orders for the C-Class.
