The funeral was held today in Waitara for a baby twin who last week died from meningococcal disease.
Three-month-old Jahana Patricia Moss-Tangira was last week admitted to Taranaki Base Hospital, in New Plymouth, and was later transferred to Starship Hospital, in Auckland, where she died on Friday.
Taranaki District Health Board medical officer of health Richard Hoskins said laboratory results confirmed meningococcal disease, The Daily News reported today.
Dr Hoskins said it was too early to tell the disease's epidemic sub-type.
Jahana, a twin, was treated by paediatricians in Taranaki before being taken to Starship Hospital.
The district health board public health unit and Auckland regional public health service have traced those who had had contact with the baby and provided treatment.
Jahana was farewelled at Waitara's River of Life Church today.
