Police have questioned two men in relation to the alleged rape of a Hamilton woman last weekend.
The 23-year-old woman was drinking in central Hamilton's bar area when she was led into a car against her will by two men on Alexandra Street between 1.30am and 3.15am on Sunday. She was taken into the car against her will and driven a short distance before being raped by two men, she told police.
No-one else was being sought in relation to the incident, Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton said.
"We have recovered the vehicle we believe was involved and we've spoken to the two men who were at the scene and are receiving full cooperation from them as we seek to resolve this matter," Mr Thornton said.
Mr Thornton appealed to central city party goers to take appropriate steps to ensure they returned home safely.
"Consider using that last $20 for a taxi fare rather than over the bar and if someone from your group goes off make sure you know who they've gone off with."
