A 24-year-old Christchurch man who was shot by police this morning has been charged with pointing a firearm at police.
Police shot the man in the face after he pointed a gun at them when officers approached the car he was a passenger in to speak to him about 2am in Woolston.
The man, who was known to police, sustained minor to moderate injuries and was taken to hospital to have his facial injury treated but has since been released and is now in custody.
He will appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday.
Another man, the driver of the vehicle the injured man was in, has been charged with possessing of drug utensils.
