Members of the public are being thanked by police for blocking-in an allegedly drunk driver on the Wellington urban motorway about 3pm today.
Police were called by members of the public when they saw a southbound blue SUV weaving across three lanes, hitting the median barrier several times before finally stopping at the south end of the Terrace tunnel.
Once stopped, several vehicles blocked in the SUV and a member of the public grabbed the keys from the vehicle.
A 40-year-old man was processed for drink driving, police said.
