A distinctive brand of swamp blues will be on offer tonight at the Cross Creek Blues Club, Tauherenikau.
Al Witham is making a return visit to the club's monthly gig at The Tin Hut bringing his own brand of swamp blues with him from his Kapiti Coast base.
Witham is a popular singer/songwriter and is regarded as an integral part of the blues establishment in the lower North Island.
For his gigs he draws from a personal catalogue of self-penned observations on life and relationships but doesn't neglect the classics.
Songs by John Lee Hooker, Big Bill Broonzy and Tony Joe White are a perfect fit for his deep, gravelly voice that has been described as a "bourbon baritone."
