KEY POINTS:
A medical equipment company is repeating an urgent recall of a respiratory humidifier with a faulty power inlet.
After consultation with MedSafe, CARE Medical Ltd was recalling its Respironics REMstar heated CPAP humidifiers produced between December 2001 and April 2003, the company said in newspaper advertisements published today.
The recall applied to product number 1007861/1005792 with serial numbers in the range between H000524 to H045514 and H0455582 to H239662.
CARE Medical Ltd said the design of the electrical power inlet connection to the humidifier was faulty and may cause the humidifier to overheat at the base of the connection.
Users were advised to disconnect the unit from the electricity supply and connect the power cord to the electrical power inlet connection in the CPAP unit.
The humidifiers could continue to be used in the non-powered mode until a replacement was received.
People should contact the company on 0800 333 808 during business hours to arrange for a replacement.
