Driver error has been ruled out as the cause of last weekend's speedway death in Northland.
Samantha Mouat, 15, died when her mini stock crashed into a perimeter fence at Kaikohe Speedway.
Club officials initially said the crash was her fault.
Circle Track Racing Association spokesman Tony Taylor now says their findings show the crash came down to a mechanical problem, and there could be implications for other stock cars.
Mr Taylor said the findings were now in the hands of Speedway New Zealand.
