Meat thieves have raided a farm near Okaihau, in the Far North, slaughtering seven sheep in a paddock and leaving behind their entrails.
Ten sheep were taken or killed in Thursday night's raid on Lake Rd. One sheep escaped but had its throat partly cut.
The animals had been freshly drenched and dipped so their meat is likely to be a health hazard. Anyone who knows about the theft, or is suspicious about an offer of cheap mutton, should call Kaikohe police on 09-405 296.
