KEY POINTS:
A former McDonald's employee was ordered to stop blogging after he published details online about his workplace.
Blogger Michael Davis has since left his job at the Kaitaia fast food restaurant to run his own web design business.
His blog contained details about the conditions of work and the treatment of staff.
Mr Davis said he left because he no longer felt comfortable, he said.
"It just got too political."
Kaitaia McDonald's initially reacted to the blog by applying to the Employment Relations Authority (ERA) for an ex parte injunction.
This would have seen a decision being made without consulting Mr Davis. However, the application was declined.
The ERA then ruled on January 14 that Mr Davis was to refrain from making any written statements or posting any information on digital media about McDonald's, or any of its staff.
In another case last month, a Warehouse employee was sacked after posting about her work place on social networking website Bebo.
The post said: "Well work sucks, guyfawkes are coming up, and we have to close @ midnight, which is totally gay... like the frickn management there."
Her work place was not named in the post but had been previously mentioned.
