The Mayor of Hutt City is vowing to visit a legal highs shop in Naenae this morning to tell its owner to stop selling synthetic drugs.
Ray Wallace said at a public meeting in the suburb north of Wellington last night that he planned to knock on the door of Coin Save in Hillary Court when it opened at 9am, Radio New Zealand reported.
"This community turns on him [the store's owner] because he is not prepared to stand up and do what is morally right and I say he will be in big trouble business-wise," Mr Wallace told the meeting.
He said his council would take an urgent look at what sort of policy it could introduce to prevent such retail activity in the future.
