Hundreds of Aucklanders took advantage of the free breakfasts on offer for those who cycled to work for the 15th annual National Go By Bike Day.
Cyclists were rewarded with a free breakfast at more than 50 locations across New Zealand, which included Sierra coffee, cycling gear giveaways, free chiropractic and physio assessments and the chance to win one of many spot prizes.
Mayor Len Brown cycled to the event from the Town Hall and was accompanied by fellow councillor and Auckland Ambassador Sir John Walker. A group of more than 40 cyclists from the Dominion Rd cycle bus and the Frocks on Bikes joined the mayor as he travelled down Queen St to the main event at the Viaduct.
The event is part of Bike Wise Month, which is aimed at promoting cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly way of getting to school or work.
