KEY POINTS:
The mayor of Otorohanga is offering a $1,000 reward to catch those responsible for vandalising his car.
A week ago, Dale Williams found his car tyres were slashed. In May, his car was scraped down one side, across the boot and up the other side.
Mr Williams says there is no doubt someone is deliberately targeting him, but he does not know why.
He says often council members and mayors are involved in public spats, but he says things have been going well in his district.
"I truly can't think of a single person or even a sector, I mean our rates have just gone out but they were well below predicted and, to my knowledge, even the hate mail hasn't been apparent for probably six months."
Mr Williams says there is no unemployment in Otorohanga and the young people are happy, so he is puzzled.
He says his vehicle looks like a stock car, but he is not going to waste insurance money fixing it until he finds the person responsible.
