A 36-year-old Christchurch man copped the maximum $500 fine for his 10th breach of the central city liquor ban.
Glen Robert McDowell was found in Hereford Street with rum and coke on New Year's Day.
The usual fine is $150 to $200, but Christchurch District Court Judge Christopher Somerville decided to impose the maximum.
