A boil water notice is in force that affects about 50 Mauriceville properties after an excessive e coli count was registered for the supply.
A boil-water notice is still in force for Mauriceville people connected to a local reticulated water scheme.
Masterton District Council is liasing with the Medical Officer of Health to determine what steps need to now be taken in order for the notice to be lifted, according to council spokesman SamRossiter-Stead.
The notice was issued after e-coli was detected in the water count and a further test recorded a count of 39.
Mr Rossiter-Stead said less than 50 properties were affected and the council's role in the scheme managed by Hatuma Lime Works was to help ensure the water supply is maintained and meets water standards.
The council is working with the lime company to find a solution to the problem long-term, Mr Rossiter-Stead said.
The water is sourced from a single privately-owned property and the water reticulated to those who signed up to the scheme as an alternative to catching water off roofs or from other bores or springs.
