The 7-year-old girl attacked by a dog at Coxs Bay Reserve is recovering, says her father.
Carolina Anderson was mauled so badly that chunks of her face and scalp were missing.
There are fears for the sight in one of her eyes but yesterday she was able to open her good eye and see.
"She's fine," said John Anderson. "She's a very strong little girl anyway and she hasn't complained at all."
Carolina was to be assessed again today and may have further plastic surgery this week.
Police are following up the many calls to their freephone number (0800 248 836) about the identity of the dog and its owner.
