Masterton Tennis Centre president Peter Martin and Mayor Lyn Patterson cast in the glow of the centre's new floodlights, installed on Friday following financial support from Masterton District Council.
The council granted funding to the Dixon St centre for its recent renovations - new artificial turf on three of its courts, and installation of the floodlights on three others.
Mr Martin said the floodlights would allow the centre to offer night tennis sessions, keeping up with increased demand for evening tennis from younger players.
The new turf and floodlights cost close to $70,000 combined, with Trust House and the Eastern and Central Community Trust also offering grants. The courts are the only public tennis courts in Masterton, and have been used by about 15,000 players over 20 years.
