Masterton will be treated to its first light show to mark the first of the 12 Nights of Christmas in the Town Square.
A unique opening night featuring balloons, lightsticks, lanterns and a computer-driven Christmas tree illumination will kick off the first of the events, on December 13.
The light show will be projected on to the Town Hall and will include a short film, as well as a montage of images from around Wairarapa.
Helium balloons filled with light sticks and sky lanterns will also add to the Christmas magic.
Organiser and Masterton District Council community development officer Sandy Ryan said this year's programme would be even better than last year's, after the council doubled the funding.
