The 18-year-old was released on bail and was due to appear in Masterton District Court today.
Mr Matheson said there were several other arrests made over the weekend, although none were directly related to the Super Rugby match played in Masterton on Saturday, or a concert that was held at Stonehenge Aotearoa on Saturday night.
"It was a big crowd obviously at the rugby and quite a few people spilled into town, but there were no issues at or after the event, or at the concert at Stonehenge," he said.
Mr Matheson said the Wellington-based Traffic Alcohol Group also ran checkpoints in Wairarapa on Saturday targeting drink drivers in the region.
He said arrests made in the district on the weekend included a 40-year-old man arrested on Saturday on suspicion of wilful damage at Castlepoint after a dispute between neighbours, and a 31-year-old man arrested after a domestic incident in Masterton and charged with male assaults female.
An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with fighting in public after an incident involving a group in Chapel St about 2.45am yesterday, he said, and a 53-year-old man was arrested later yesterday morning for stealing a hot water cylinder from business premises High St property.
Police also arrested a man yesterday afternoon in relation to a burglary in Carterton.
