The case of a Masterton man who says he was "sleep-driving" when he allegedly crashed a car into a Wairarapa property last year, has reached court.
Darryl Donald James Cox, 34, denies driving with excess blood alcohol and driving with a revoked licence.
It is alleged that early on November 15 last year, Cox was driving in Masterton and smashed through a fence, destroying a goldfish pond and ripping up a lawn and gardens.
Emergency services allegedly found him unconscious and cut him out of the car. Cox has said he was "sleep-driving" after taking sleeping pills.
He was not present in the Wellington District Court. Judge Bruce Davidson remanded him on continued bail until November 11. Cox has elected a trial by jury, set down for April 2015. NZME.
