After several months of spilling over, the Masterton town square fountain may need its plumbing checked.
The Times-Age has observed the fountain has been overflowing since February, spilling large puddles of water around its perimeter.
Masterton locals have also expressed concern about the potential water wastage, and questioned the fountain's construction and maintenance by Masterton District Council on the Times-Age Facebook page.
One commenter said the fountain was "budget" and "an eyesore", while another argued the construction was "poor" and a "waste of taxpayers' money".
Another suggested the overflowing could be down to "poor plumbing" and wondered if the council was unblocking drains.
