The Stoptober Ball rolled into Masterton yesterday as part of a Ministry of Health "Stoptober" campaign to sign people up to stop smoking for October.
The health team visited Masterton's east side, with children from early childhood centres Ko Te Aroha, Makoura, Wahireka Kohanga reo and Kura Kaupapa rolling the 3m ball while health messages were handed out to families.
It then came to Masterton's town square, joined by Masterton's stop smoking services.
People who want to join Stoptober can sign up at www.stoptobernz.co.nz to get free support and quit on October 1.
In the UK, a Stoptober campaign ran for two years and saw nearly 250,000 people quit smoking.
