Masterton District Council will get $20,000 under the Youth Development Partnership Fund 2015 to support the coaching and mentoring of Youth Council members in event management.
Wairarapa MP Alastair Scott says he is delighted the Masterton District Council will receive $20,000 under the Youth Development Partnership Fund 2015.
"This investment will fund Masterton District Council to support Youth Council members to be coached and mentored in event management, and to lead and develop three summer communityevents."
"The young people who take the opportunities this funding makes available will build essential skills and confidence for their futures."
Twenty-five city and district councils will benefit from this latest Youth Development Partnership funding, enabling Territorial Authorities and young people, aged 12 to 24, to work together to provide Youth Citizenship projects for young people.
"Our young people are bright, energised and innovative, this funding makes it possible for them to be involved in meaningful community activities, and to influence local decision-making," said Mr Scott.
Since the launch of the fund in 2005, more than 50 city and district councils have been supported to work with and improve outcomes for young people in their regions.
