Masterton has jumped into second place in the national Chorus Gigatown competition to win superspeed broadband.
A promotion awarding towns bonus points for the most sign-ups boosted Masterton's numbers by 65,000 points. More points are up for grabs with the "Connected Dream Home of the Future" competition that started yesterday.
People who have signed up to support Masterton can win more points by posting an Instagram photo that illustrates what they want to see or experience in their home if they had 1GB a second speed internet. The town that submits the most photos will win 75,000 points and if won by Masterton, would take it one step closer to pushing Wanaka from the top spot.
There are also points for second and third place and five bonus prizes of 1000 points to be given out by the @gigatowngnome.
The instagram competition runs until midnight February 5. To find out more, visit masterton.net.nz or gigatown.co.nz.
