Masterton's Ten O'Clock Cookie Bakery Cafe missed out on scooping the NZ Cafe of the Year 2013 award.
The award went to Jester House in Tasman, 35 minutes from Nelson.
Ten O'Clock Cookie was one of the top six finalists in the competition and was named the best cafe in the lower North Island.
There were 669 eateries at the start of the competition and the finalists, which included The Village Grinder in Kuripuni, were voted in by more than 45,000 cafe-goers.
