The 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games will be celebrated at a service at the St Matthew's Anglican Church in Masterton on Sunday at 4.30pm.
It will be addressed by the Rev Ted Dashfield, who said it was an opportune time for people to celebrate an event which would have a huge following.
"These Games demonstrate perfectly how sport can bring people together and provide joy for both those who are competing and those who are watching on," Mr Dashfield said.
A booklet marking the service includes a picture of one of New Zealand's most memorable Olympic moments, the win of Dr John (Jack) Lovelock in the 1500m final in Berlin in 1936.
