Massey University School of Aviation is to stay in Palmerston North. It was feared the school would be lost to Auckland.
The school will base all flying at Palmerston North Airport and, with a few exceptions in aviation management and maintenance, all aviation courses at the Turitea campus in Palmerston North.
Growth plans based on a 1998 expansion to Auckland, associated with Massey's purchase of Ardmore-based Flightline College, did not materialise.
Paul Toulson, acting general manager of the School of Aviation, said the Ardmore operation would continue through this year, allowing students there to complete their courses. It would then be closed.
