KEY POINTS:
One of the country's worst mass murderers is due before the Parole Board in July.
Raymond Ratima bludgeoned or stabbed to death seven members of his family in Masterton in June 1992.
In February, Nelson and Noeline Tepu, whose son Bevan was one of Ratima's victims, said he "should stay where he is for the rest of his life".
On June 25, 1992, Ratima, then aged 25, killed his sister-in-law Nicola Ferguson, Bevan Tepu, their child Stephen, Nicola's brother Phillip Ferguson junior and his own children Piripi, Barney and Stacey.
Ratima first came up for parole in July 2003 and was again denied parole at a hearing last year.
Parole Board spokeswoman Sonja de Friez said the next hearing was in July and it would take time to transcribe the decision and inform victims. A decision was not expected to be released until mid-July.
