Police are hunting for two men who burst into an Auckland home at the weekend and tied up a family of three.
The home invasion occurred about 5.40am on Saturday as two adults and their grown child were sleeping in their Bond Cres home at Forrest Hill.
One of the adults answered a knock at the door to find two partially masked men standing there.
The men burst in the door and tied up the three while gathering money and cellphones from the house.
Detective Steve Garrett said one of the family members tried to call 111 during the robbery.
The phone was torn out of the person's hand, but not before police were alerted to what was happening.
Mr Garrett said police arrived at the address just as the men were running out the back door.
They dropped some of the items but escaped in a brown 4WD with at least one stolen cellphone.
Police believe the registration of the getaway car started with the letters BSC.
They would like to hear from anyone with information about it or the men involved.
The two are described as Maori or Pacific Island and one had a moko on his face, part of which was uncovered.
The family were shaken but not injured during the ordeal.
The home invasion occurred just hours after a family of three were confronted with a masked, armed teenager at their Waiau Beach home, northwest of Pukekohe.
In that case the teenager allegedly burst his way into the house after knocking on the front door.
He demanded keys for the family's car but was challenged by one of the occupants and a neighbour, who managed to hold him down until police arrived.
A 15-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and firearm offences.
