Two masked men fled with an undisclosed amount of money after robbing the Hastings tip.
The robbery happened about 4.45pm on Sunday when the men entered the refuse transfer station kiosk and demanded money.
They fled with cash through a neighbouring orchard on Henderson Road, heading toward Flaxmere.
Detective Constable Brendan Campbell, of Hastings police, said it was believed the men then got into a vehicle and drove off.
Police have appealed for information.
