KEY POINTS:
Former Miss New Zealand Rachel Huljich learnt the perils of parking illegally this morning, when her brother's 1999 Maserati was smashed in a "forklift fiasco", the Sydney Morning Herald is reporting.
Ms Huljich was looking after the $125,000 sportscar while her brother Jason holidays in South America.
The former beauty queen had parked the car on Sydney's exclusive Bilyard Avenue in a construction zone, reports the SMH.
When an unidentified construction worker arrived on site this morning, the person took it upon themselves to remove the offending vehicle with a fork lift.
But as they hoisted the luxury vehicle into the air, the car began rocking and flipped off the forklift, landing on its roof.
Ms Huljich told the Sydney Morning Herald she was very surprised by the incident.
"[My brother's] away for another two weeks in South America, so I haven't decided whether I'll tell him now or when he comes back."
It is unclear if the dark blue Maserati can be salvaged, reported the SMH.
