More than 185 wineries were judged over three days by 13 experts during the annual competition.
Since the awards were announced, sales of the pinot gris wine had jumped, Mrs Goodwin said, and New World had advised the wine was on the brink of selling out. Consistency across the Palliser brands was one reason the wine was doing so well, she said.
"This is a really lovely example of a pinot gris. It has a lovely purity and textural element to it, everything that you'd expect - at an affordable price.
"Palliser is a very well established brand and it's consistently producing quality and premium wine across all our labels."
It was great to see the label making headway in supermarkets, as about 70 per cent of wine sales were made in supermarkets.
"The supermarket channel is very much driven by awards and people looking for a good wine that is good quality.
"It's nice to get recognition for the good quality wine that it is."
Mrs Goodwin said the label's name paid homage to some of the inspirational people behind the brand: Rear Admiral Sir Hugh Palliser, Kupe, Richard Riddiford, Allan Johnson and Clive Weston.
"In addition to this we are incorporating reference to light - something that is very special here in our wine village of Martinborough and a key part of our terroir and wines."
The vineyard also makes a sauvignon blanc and pinot noir under The Luminary label.
