Kiwis gathered outside Parliament this afternoon in support of a marriage equality bill that is expected to pass its first reading.
Many had their smartphones in hand, and tweeted or Instagrammed their progress. Others chimed in from around New Zealand.
Labour MP Louisa Wall, who sponsored the bill, was introduced to around 1000 marchers as "New Zealand's own Rosa Parks".
A small number of protesters against gay marriage also appeared at the march's ultimate destination.
