The Carterton Golf Club Marquis Shield team takes centre stage this week.
After three rounds of the Marquis Shield the Carterton team leads with a total of 23 points, two and a half points clear of Mahunga, in second place.
Last Sunday, at Mahunga, Carterton defeated Eketahuna by 7? points to 4?.
The senior players were, on this occasion, the main achievers with three wins and a half from their four matches.
Honours were evenly shared in both the intermediates and the juniors.
However, there are still hard matches to be played and, in reality, the Marquis Shield is a fairly even contest and will certainly be worth watching in the remaining rounds.
MEN - SATURDAY:
The Saturday competition for the men of the club was a par round - the third and final round of the Clareville Trophy.
The winner of the Clareville Trophy this year is Jeremy Ross whose plus nine score last Saturday helped his case no end!

Both Graham Hutchby and Ian Gordon finished four up while Russ Morgan filled fifth place with his score of three up.
Three players - Stew White, Lyn Evans and Brian Field - all finished two up.

Both Russ Morgan and Bernie O'Brien scored 41 while three players - Garry Smith, Frank Delaney and Joe Skillcorn - all came in with 39 point totals.
Nearest the pin in two on hole 16 was Cyril Burling.
WOMEN - WEDNESDAY:
An L.G.U. round was also the order of the day for the women on Wednesday, April 6.
The best nett score of the day was achieved by Denise Stewart with an outstanding nett 65, winning the silver division.
Both Barbara Birchall and Natalie Mallitte scored nett 72's.
The bronze division went to Bev Tregurtha with her nett 70 from Honey Presow on 72 and Margaret Thompson, on 73.
Holes in two were achieved by both Caral Rink and Marion Matheson.
Longest drive contests were won by Denise Stewart, silver, Bev Tregurtha, bronze 1 and Alison Bodle, bronze 2.
FOOTNOTE:
The "miracle" shot played by Tiger Woods on the 16th hole in the final round of the US Masters was almost beyond belief.
It was even more so when one considers that, playing a much more simple chip shot a few holes earlier, Tiger had only moved the ball a few feet and was, no doubt, very embarrassed, and probably angered, by the experience.
However, while the shot on the 16th leave us mere mortals in awe, his shot earlier gave higher handicap golfers some cause for hope.
After all, if Tiger can really "duff" such a shot perhaps we do not need to be quite so embarrassed when it happens to us.
It just happens much more often, that's all!
