Napier's palm tree-dwelling cat has been coaxed down with a marmite sandwich.
The stubborn moggy had been stuck up the tree in suburban Marewa for a week, and it scrambled down a day before it was to be shot.
Annoyed residents had had enough of the cat's howling, and a radio station put a $400 bounty on its head. If it wasn't down by midnight residents were going to hand the cat's life over to the council.
But Napier painter Jamie Green didn't like that scenario, and got out of his sick bed to coax the cat down with the unlikely bait of a marmite sandwich.
