KEY POINTS:
British police hunting the killer of New Zealander Catherine Marlow, murdered in London last weekend, have charged a man with stealing her credit card.
Daniel Martin Kennedy, 38, who was arrested in south London on Wednesday, was to appear in the Camberwell Green Magistrates Court last night (Friday morning London time).
He was charged with stealing Ms Marlow's NatWest Visa card and having an article for use in connection with theft.
Last night Scotland Yard told the Weekend Herald Kennedy would remain in custody and was still being questioned.
"It is still a live inquiry and we are continuing to question a man in connection with Miss Marlow's death," said a spokesman.
It is understood Kennedy was not known to Ms Marlow, which suggests robbery could have been a motive in her killing.
Ms Marlow, 28, whose family live in Hawkes Bay, was found by a friend dead in a pool of blood on Saturday night in a shower at her London workplace.
The friend, a 28-year-old man, called police and was later arrested and questioned before being released without charge.
Police were asking for information about a handbag Ms Marlow had with her the night she died that was missing from her office. It was brown leather with a distinctive flap.
A post-mortem examination showed she died of asphyxiation.
