Maritime New Zealand and the police are both investigating how two boats came to collide in the sheltered Okiwi Bay yesterday evening, leaving one dead and two injured.
This morning, Maritime NZ announced it would be probing the deadly on-water collision, interviewing people, carrying out scene inspections and examining documents before deciding on further action.
Police confirmed one person died and two people were injured after two boats collided in the water off the small Marlborough town of Okiwi, about an hour's drive north of Nelson.
