Mark moves into Masterton office

NZ First deputy leader and Wairarapa electorate contender Ron Mark is opening a Masterton office.

The Wairarapa base for the former Carterton mayor will be in Queen St's Totara Village, with staff hoping to open to the public as early as next week.

Mr Mark said he was happy to have secured a Masterton office. "I'm pretty pleased to finally have a place and we are in Masterton, which was the aim, and that's where we are anticipating the work is going to come from.

"Already the work is coming in, so we will do what we can."

Mr Mark had planned to convert a house to an office but this was not possible under the district plan, he said.

However, the office's location in the centre of Masterton was an advantage, Mr Mark said.

"It's pretty nice and pretty central and easy to get to, so we we are fitting it up."

Mr Mark is not the only MP in Wairarapa to get a new address, with Wairarapa MP Alastair Scott recently relocating from his base in the Wairarapa Community Centre to an office in Perry St.

Mr Mark's office will be staffed from 10am-3pm Monday to Friday, and he said he aimed to be in the office or the electorate on Mondays and Fridays, as his schedule as deputy leader allowed.

"It's about being in the electorate wherever that may be, whether that's in Ngawi or Dannevirke."

The office will be officially opened on October 22 by NZ First leader Winston Peters.
