KEY POINTS:
The man accused of murdering Auckland hairdresser Marie Jamieson has abandoned his legal bid for continued name suppression.
Joseph Martin Reekers, 51, sickness beneficiary, had been fighting for continued name suppression but in the High Court in Auckland today his defence lawyer Barry Hart said that had been abandoned.
Reekers was not in court but is due to reappear on July 25 for a bail hearing.
Mr Hart told the court as Reekers' mother had been told of the charges there was no reason to continue name suppression.
Ms Jamieson's naked body was found dumped behind a factory in Ranui, west Auckland on February 19, 2001, 10 days after she went missing.
