Marie Davis' killer appeals conviction

Marie Davis' rapist and murderer Dean Stuart Cameron is appealing his conviction and detention sentence.

Cameron, 39, was sentenced in the High Court at Christchurch last month for raping and murdering the 15-year-old Christchurch schoolgirl in 2008.

He was sentenced to preventive detention with a minimum non-parole period of 19 years.

The Court of Appeal today confirmed he was appealing both conviction and his sentence.

Marie disappeared from her home early on April 6 last year, about 11 days before her naked body was found in the Waimakariri River.
